White Christmas

Gabe's first Christmas was spent at Grandma and Grandpa Roosmann's house and quite the event. As soon as Andy was off work Thursday afternoon, we headed to Lincoln; and just in time. It seemed like the moment we were in the house the blizzard moved in. The five of use were snowed in until Sunday afternoon, at which point I think my husband would have pushed the car all the way to Omaha if he had to. He assured my parents that it wasn't to get away from them but simply because he wanted to see his side of the family for the holidays as well as mine.
Gabe's favorite part of the holiday was having his daddy around from the moment he woke up to the moment he went to sleep. Though I didn't know it was possible, Gabe is an even sweeter little guy when he has both parents around.
Though the cars couldn't get around the neighborhood, I was determined to let Gabe experience the blizzard. So, we bundled him up, strapped on the Bjorn and headed out. As you can see the drifts at my parents house were up to my waist!
By the time we made it to Omaha Gabe had really mastered opening Christmas gifts. With his new hat (knitted with love from Grandma Holz) Gabe got to work.
Gabe attempting to be included with his big cousins, Etienne and Blake.
This guy was really pooped by the time we got home. Somehow we managed to squeeze him into the back seat with all his Christmas booty.

rub-a-dub-dub I'm in the big boy tub

Saturday night as I leaned over to place Gabe into his bath sling his towel fell from my shoulder into the water. Rather than thinking it a mistake, I sat little man right onto it and tucked his sling away. Gabe was thrilled. He's always had fun taking baths but this was a like a totally different experience. He splashed and smiled and giggled for nearly an hour. When I drained the water out and the level got lower and lower he flipped onto his tummy and attempted to savor the last moments. I've attached some sweet shots, pardon his buoy.

***Snowed In***

Though we have already had snow this year today was quite the event! All schools were closed as well as many businesses, not Andy's though :( . Needless to say Gabe and I were snowed in. We spent lots of time looking out windows and watching the beautiful flakes fall from the sky, he was particularly entertained by cars getting stuck at the intersection down our street.

It's amazing how bad I wanted to leave the house simply because I knew we couldn't. So I bundled the two of us up and ventured to the front yard. As I expected, Gabe was mildly entertained.

Gabe just waiting for me to get my gear on.
Not so sure about the whole thing.
Getting into it!

Thanksgiving, etc.

Yikes, time has really gotten away from me this past week. Gabe's first Thanksgiving was perfect, well almost. We were not able to spend the day with relatives but we were able to celebrate with close friends, all of whom I consider 'like family'. As my parents were in South Caroline visiting Gabe's great-grandma, Andy's parents were in Colorado with Gabe's great-grandparents and great-aunt, and Gabe's aunt, uncle and cousins were all out of town it looked like a day of thanks with just the three of us.

Fortunately we have such a sweet baby he didn't let it get him down. And once we informed him that Daddy was going to have breakfast with his groomsmen and their little men he was excited.
The best result of a noble photo effort: Will, Sam, Gavin and Gabe.
Note my son is the only nerd with a festive outfit. Poor kid, I'm sure I'll get crap for this when he's 16.
All the boys with their dads. Matt/Will, Nick/Sam, Kyle/Gavin and my men. Andy refused to wear his matching Thanksgiving shirt...just kidding, he totally would have worn it if I had one.

Gabe receiving some love from Sam.
The entire crew, Sam is giving more love to his baby sister Anna.
And my darling boy, this is the face I get to see all day (well, most of the day). I think he's posing.
