15 Months

Monday morning Gabe and I had a visit with Dr. Gary. It was all routine but I got the distinct feeling that Gabe knew what was going on this time. He was fine until we left the waiting room, then he seemed a bit suspicious of people, was not interested in leaving my arms and did not want his clothes off.

He's meeting all his benchmarks, and progressing on the growth charts at a steady rate. Only two shots this visit, but they hurt just the same. One left a little bruise, that nurse is lucky we don't meet in a dark alley.

Milwaukee // Our Little Men

Over the Fourth of July weekend our family traveled to Wauwatosa WI., to visit Andy's BFF Matt Schieber. Matt, along with his pregnant wife Stacy and son Will, moved just over a year ago so that Matt could complete his degree in pediatric dentistry.

To increase the fun we traveled with 3/4 of the Clatterbuck clan (Nick, Sarah & Sam). Thursday around 3:00 we loaded the Holz Sr. van and hit the road. With kids, and stops it's about an eight hour drive, but as we had angel children, and good company travel was pretty smooth.

It probably helped that the boys were able to sit next to each other and interact, that there was plenty of room in our borrowed van, that we had good company...and that we had a DVD player for emergencies!

I swear they did not pose for this shot, they both just like to read and look at books! Too cute though!

Stacy and Sarah both provided festive treats for the boys, hats, balls, small flags, and glow bracelets; I sat back and enjoyed their thoughtfulness. Gabe wasn't all that impressed with the fireworks, but then it was pretty late when they started and Gabe emotes for random things like water, books and sand; but large colorful displays...who cares.

Sam and Will seemed to enjoy each other's antics.

Will has a little sister on the way and liked to practice handling a baby with Gabe. Gabe was happy to help. Always up for a good snuggle.

We were able to spend some time at the lake front, more pictures later. One of Gabe's favorite things is sand!

More travel time. Gabe got to sit forward facing for the video. If you haven't met him before, that's Lovey in his arms, Gabe's BFF.

Lay-Z-Boy

A few weeks ago we spend some time in Lincoln. Besides his grandparents, Gabe's favorite thing was an old red child rocker. Gabe spent most of the trip climbing in and out of the chair; it might have helped that Grandpa Roosmann sat it directly in front of the television, but really I think he loved having something just his size.

When he was in the chair it could be a bit difficult to get his attention.

He was clearly too cool for his mom and dad, he had programs to catch up on.

As a result of Gabe's love for the red rocker, and the clear over indulgence of his Grandfather, Gabe and I discovered a large package on our front step yesterday. Gabe knew right away it was for him.

He couldn't even wait for me to get it completely out of the box!

He felt right at home instantly.

Though Gabe isn't demonstrating it in this picture, the chair does recline, and the footrest does pop up!

While Gabe rocked, I got all crafty with the large box. With a little tape, a box cutter and some markers I had assembled a Gabe sized house that fit in our living room. Box and new chair occupied him for the remainder of the afternoon!

Shortly after taking this photo, our camera sighed it's last breath. It was sad, and doesn't bode well for a weekly blog...Thankfully I have some pictures from our Fourth of July weekend that I can stretch out, and hope to find some cash-o-la for a new camera before Gabe turns 2.
