It seems I've taken an unintentional Sabbath from the blog. It all started when Gabe got his first cold. One week coming, one week staying, and we're on week three-hopefully of it going. The poor kiddo has been a bit emotionally fragile as a result, and it doesn't help that his second tooth is just moving up and down, up and down, up and down. All in all he's been his content little self, big smiles, giggles and lots of crawling.
During our break Gabe turned 9 months old. The day began with a big spill from his crib, and lots of tears between him and me as a result. The mattress was lowered instantly and I spent the rest of the day paranoid that any mildly unusual behavior was the result of a head injury. Poor guy.
As you can see from his legs, eating has not been an issue. At 19 lbs. 4 oz he is falling in the 27.7%. He continues to be tall for his weight, 28.5" (58%). Though, this time the doctor didn't say 'he's thin for his height' she simply said 'he has a heart healthy build', and who doesn't want their doctor to say that.
While out to eat with Grandma and Grandpa Holz, Gabe experienced his first crackers. We couldn't believe how quickly he ate 4 crackers until we discovered he was actually stashing the pieces in his high-chair cover.
This should have been the first sign that we needed to lower the mattress, but no, I simply recorded the moment. Though, it is pretty cute. "Hey mom, I'm ready to wake up now, please come get me."
This is just stinkn' cute. Who knows what he's thinking, but his eyebrow says it all.
And this is one of Gabe's favorite activities, watching the squirrels. Seriously, my kid will just sit contently looking out the window as I prepare dinner.
It also reminded me of a comment the nursery teacher said at church this week: "Gabe sure doesn't seem like a first born, he's not demanding, easy to make smile, never bothered by other kids crawling over him, and already shares well". I had to laugh because though it was all true, she just sounded more like a second born than an insightful observer.
Hope all is well with you. XOXO-Katie
