7 Months Old

Our little guy is 7 months today! Crazy...
I could swear he's always been here but also that time is moving too fast. Today was busy busy busy for the three of us with errands, general household duties and a NE game, but I managed to 'pin' both my men down to capture one picture.

People ask frequently what new developments are happening with Gabe but it seems like he's taking a small break in terms of milestones. We feel like he's on the cusp of FINALLY cutting some teeth and sitting up unsupported. We'll keep you posted as things change. Prayers for teeth would be nice, there are days when you can tell he is in pain, and his poor gums just look so swollen at times.

Developments

Recently Gabe has developed two new behaviors, that while typical and sometimes sad, are none-the-less a bit comical.

1: Gabe is developing object permanence (a skill in which he comprehends that when I leave the room I do still exist, he seems to think that mommy no longer exist if he can't see me; how sad). Though some don't believe in this skill, it's hard to explain the behavior otherwise. His meltdown provides big tears and makes showering or walking into another room a bit tricky.

2: Gabe is beginning to engage in very blatant temper tantrums. They usually occur when I put his diaper on (he LOVES to be naked) or when I take the remote away. As you can see during this video, I have removed the remote from his possession which results in his unpleasant reaction. When I attempt to distract him with another toy, it doesn't do much good.

Regardless of his recent behavior, he's still so darn great!

Halloween with Cowboy Gabe

For Gabe's first Halloween we decided to outfit our little outlaw as a cowboy. He might have been a bit too smiley to carry the appropriate attitude but all in all it was a success.

He really loved his daddy's old boots.

Fall

It seems weird posting pictures with leaves as we've already posted pictures with snow...but we live in Nebraska so I guess it does make sense. Today Gabe and I ventured outside to rake leaves, he thought it was a lot of fun to change scenery and watch me work-which is obvious from his smiley face. We managed to take a short break for photos, but he wanted to eat every leaf so we had to make it fast.

The Results Are In

Today we ventured to the doctor's office for Gabe's 6 month checkup. It was sad (and a bit unnerving) to see many kids waiting for appointments with protective masks on. I refused to take Gabe out of his car seat until we were in the examination room. Though I was nervous I had to hide a smile when I overheard another mom tell her kids "don't touch anything, no books, no magazines, no chair arms...keep your hands in your lap!". Several sweet kiddos walked out of their appointment holding bowls to throw up in :( . Thankfully our appointment was standard. Gabe always does great but 3 shots was more than he is used to, and he displayed some tears. This was the first appointment since getting his casts that made me want to cry. He shaped up as soon as they let me pick him up, and soon enough he was back to smiles. Once we got home he wanted to lay down and forget about the entire thing. The details:

Height: 26.5" - 53%
Weight: 16 lbs. 10 oz - 33%

I had guessed around 18 lbs. but it seems like now that he's out of the womb he insists on staying small. Dr. Gary said twice "he's thin for his height".
